I like very much the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, with its nice venues, colorful cars and remarkable drivers. I have skinned a few PCCA cars on the Flat6 Enduracers mod and could not resist making one for the Assetto Corsa model even if it is the 2017 model and 2017 liveries are not out yet.
The skin is based on one of the cars engaged by Team Jebsen, ie the one driven by Yuey Tan from Singapore.
Here is a quick presentation of the real deal by the driver himself:
Yuey Tan was the 2015 B champion, but 2016 was not nearly as successful. A few strokes of bad luck even deprived him of a place on the B podium.
Here is another Swiss livery for the venerable Carrera RSR:
It is based on the car engaged in the 24 heures du Mans 1975 race by Guy Verrier, with co-drivers Florian Vetsch and Jean-Robert Corthay.
That great looking lime green paint is just one of the 70’s niceties that were lost along the way by Porsche owners.
A couple of skins based on US cars. Toad Hall was the only American team to stick to the European front bumper during the 1974 season, both in IMSA GT and TransAm. From the end of the season and later in 1975, they eventually used the modified, massive front bumper that was introduced by Brumos very early in ’74. Fortunately that gives the possibility to skin their cars on the AC model.
The car was driven by Michael Keyser and Milt Minter. I skinned both the #0 and #1 versions that were used by the team.
Michael Keyser is the founder and main driver of the Toad Hall team. He is also known for his “Speed Hunters” movie about the Sebring 1971 race. It is a must-see for every racing fan.
Vasek Polak was one of the big names in Porsche racing in America during the 70’s. However it did not field any Carrera RSR unless this one:
To my knowledge it raced only at the Laguna Seca 1976 race.
Since I only have two period pictures in quite bad quality, I mainly relied on the restored car to reproduce it.
Milt Minter’s helmet is not accurate because the “Minter Boy” graphic that he used in 75 was an open-faced model – and AC offers only a closed helmet for that car.
Another Swiss Carrera:
This one was driven by Claude Haldi during the 1975 season with success. Haldi eventually won the ’75 Porsche Cup, which is the prize awarded by the factory for the most successful private driver of the year.
Although it shared the same sponsor and yellow paint with the 74 Carrera engaged under the banner of the Porsche Club Romand, it was a different car.
The skin is based on the livery of the Norisring European GT race.
