A couple of skins based on US cars. Toad Hall was the only American team to stick to the European front bumper during the 1974 season, both in IMSA GT and TransAm. From the end of the season and later in 1975, they eventually used the modified, massive front bumper that was introduced by Brumos very early in ’74. Fortunately that gives the possibility to skin their cars on the AC model.
The car was driven by Michael Keyser and Milt Minter. I skinned both the #0 and #1 versions that were used by the team.
Michael Keyser is the founder and main driver of the Toad Hall team. He is also known for his “Speed Hunters” movie about the Sebring 1971 race. It is a must-see for every racing fan.
This skin is based on the Carrera used by Bernard Cheneviere during 1974, at Le Mans and in various events, notably in the European GT series.
This livery is well-known for several reasons: the yellow-red combination is eye-catching; we all have had a taste of the sponsor^^; Cheneviere used it both on a 908 and a 911 in the early part of the 1970’s; and the restored car is a often engaged in Porsche gatherings and youngtimers’ races.
Speaking of the restored car, you have noticed if you saw it that it is in red and beige colors (like the Toblerone 908), rather than red and yellow. I relied on period pictures and forum discussions for the yellow color.
I intended to reproduce the Spa race version. Unfortunately the tail uv map of the Kunos model is flawed. It was therefore impossible to paint it as it should – or there would be yellow wipers… ^^
Louis Meznarie is a former French NSU and Porsche tuner. He prepared racing cars for tracks and rallying, for such drivers as Gérard Larrousse, Jürgen Barth, Guy Fréquelin, Thierry Sabine and Bernard Béguin.
This Carrera RSR was the car entered by Louis Meznarie in the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1974. It was driven by Striebig and Kirschhoffer. Unfortunately it crashed early in the race.
This livery is not the one of the full 24h race, but the 4h test race.
Karmin Rot is one of the best looking colors that ever graced a Porsche. In 1974 there was a pair of Carrera RSR’s in that livery competing in German races. One of them was Hartwig Bertrams’ car, engaged in DRM and also in European GT events.
