Here is another skin from the 2015 Mazda media race using the new MX-5 roadster tuned for racing. It was sponsored by the Japanese mag “LeVolant” (ie “the steering wheel” in French).
Another roadster that took part in the Mazda media race of 2015. That one was driven by, among others, Keiichi Tsuchiya, a.k.a. the “Drift King”. I guess the color scheme and number were not entirely random choices ^^.
As often with Assetto Corsa cars, the outcome is not 100% satisfying: there is no way to remove the aerocatches on the bonnet, and they overlap with the main decal (aerocatches were wider on the real car); we can skin the windshield frame but the material is set in a way that painting does not look good; impossible to get a chrome-ish look on the helmet. Complex files but little control on the final render.
Anyway, here are the download links:
Another Mazda Roadster from the 2015 media race: the Tipo & Daytona magazines’ entry.
This started as a little side project because I noticed and liked the Jinba-Ittai graphics while doing some research about Mazda cars. I ended up putting a lot more time into this than I thought, due to the tires and suits that came with the car. Anyway, here is the outcome:
The Mazda Media 4-hour endurance race of September 2015 was the first racing event with the new roadster. The racing setup is not entirely the same as the model of Assetto Corsa but quite close.
This car was Mazda’s own entry in the race. ‘Jina-Ittai’ or ‘人馬一体’ (ie unity between horse and rider) is one of their marketing and conception mottos. The driver line-up was composed of several senior executives of the corporation, including their heads of R&D and design.
