This is the skin of the winning car of the 2016 ADAC Nürburgring 24h race. The event was memorable for a few things including an all AMG GT3 podium and a very close finish.
The simple no-nonsense design with SAP colors is simple enough to reproduce. The tyres, suit, gloves and helmet took more time.
I made this couple of skins for my friend RacingFR-Online driver and race organiser “afondesix” who wanted to have the same livery as the one I had made for the Z4 GT3 last year: https://lesuntzu.wordpress.com/2016/06/29/bmw-z4-gt3-unicefgilmore-fantasy-skin/. It is based on the same color design by Andy Gilmore.
So there is little creativity in this work, but texturing skill to make it seamless around the curves and twists of the bodywork.
I skinned a Mercedes AMG GT3 for a change. I am not too fond of that model, because except for the fantastic front grill in the style of the mid 50’s, it is not very gracious. But the matte look of this livery was interesting to recreate.
The real car is engaged in Australian GT this year (2016) and driven by Matt Solomon, who is known as one of the fastest guys in HK. The skin is based on the livery of the Melbourne races at the Australian GP.
