Another car driven by Keiichi Tsuchiya: the Advan Carrot Racing AE86 with which the Drift King boosted his carreer by taking 6 wins in a row during the 1984 season of the Fuji Freshman Race Series.
I do not have enough pictures to skin the suit and helmet worn by Tsuchiya-san in 1984 or the Advan tires actually used on this car. So I included recent suits, helmet and tires (Advan A050) – all scratch-made.
P.S. In this very entertaining video you can have a glimpse of the real car driven under the rain by the master:
On the web these days every car is ‘iconic’ and every driver is a ‘legend’. When I started this kind of blog I promised myself to stay away from those words – even when they do mean something real for a particular car and for a particular driver.
So here is the Toyota Trueno of Tsuchiya-san a.k.a. the Drift King, as seen from time to time in the automotive Best Motoring / Hot Version show.
If you are not familiar with the Japanese car culture, especially drift and touge, it’s time to surf the web and fill that gap ^^.
This is a simple skin, although there was some work on the bonnet texture, and on the suit and helmet.
Another roadster that took part in the Mazda media race of 2015. That one was driven by, among others, Keiichi Tsuchiya, a.k.a. the “Drift King”. I guess the color scheme and number were not entirely random choices ^^.
As often with Assetto Corsa cars, the outcome is not 100% satisfying: there is no way to remove the aerocatches on the bonnet, and they overlap with the main decal (aerocatches were wider on the real car); we can skin the windshield frame but the material is set in a way that painting does not look good; impossible to get a chrome-ish look on the helmet. Complex files but little control on the final render.
Anyway, here are the download links:
